DEFINITION OF A COLLECTOR

Who is deemed a "true" collector?

We realize that art collecting is a very personal decision and can be pursued for a myriad of reasons - of which are not of paramount importance to us. The club, however, does adhere to a certain set of values. For us, there is a clear distinction between “real” collectors, crypto enthusiasts, art aficionados and investors. Ultimately, it comes down to the buying motivations.

How many artworks do I need to have in my collection to be considered a collector?

For us, there exists no minimum requirement for the number of artworks in one's collection to merit the title of a collector. Whether you’re a young, novice, experienced, fine art or NFT collector - our emphasis lies on quality, not quantity or experience. We care about the genuine passion and commitment to art and NFTs.

I'm an NFT collector, but I frequently sell them to capitalize on cryptocurrency gains. Can I still join the club?

While we embrace cryptocurrency enthusiasts, our club is reserved for individuals who acquire NFTs out of genuine appreciation for the art rather than purely for financial gain.

I am not a collector. Can I still join the club or be involved somehow?

Unfortunately, for now, club membership is reserved solely for art and NFT collectors. (Though this might change in the future, it's not happening anytime soon.) However, there are still ways to get involved.

Firstly, we warmly encourage non-members to join our lu.ma community to stay updated on our public events. Our team frequently attends major industry gatherings, providing opportunities for in-person meetings. We also regularly organize gatherings open to the public, including physical events in various urban centers as well as digital sessions via livestream, which can be accessed from anywhere in the world! Subscribers to our lu-ma community also receive discount codes for these events, offering extra incentive to join us as we expand this initiative!

Additionally, don't miss our podcast, "UNLOCKED: Weekly Art and NFT Discussions", featuring insightful conversations with leaders in Web3 and the art world. (Subscribers to lu.ma will also receive the weekly reminder when episodes are live). Whether you're looking to deepen your knowledge, satisfy your curiosity, or simply indulge your inner nerd, it's definitely worth a listen. Click here to tune in now.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

What are the requirements for membership?

Membership is exclusively reserved for collectors who genuinely engage in the pursuit of art and/or NFTs out of a deep appreciation for the craft. We prioritize tangible actions over mere verbal assertions, which is why our application process entails providing a diverse array of supporting evidence. The assessment of collectors within our club hinges upon various factors, including their history of patronage, ethical acquisition practices, and demonstrated passion for the art form. Other positive economic contributions to the art and NFT space are also highly valued actions - such as purchasing event tickets or other forms of involvement. We take a holistic view, considering not just the quantity of artworks in one's possession, but also the quality of their engagement with the artistic community and their dedication to furthering their collection. What can I do to strengthen my application?

While not required, we highly recommend the following to enhance applications: References from individuals in the industry, CV (if involved in art, tech, or other creative pursuits). For further guidance, please contact us via hello@100collectors.art

I haven't started collecting art yet, but I'm keen to begin. Can I still be considered?

We place great emphasis on the quality of references provided by applicants. Essentially, if individuals in our network can vouch for your character, we will consider your application even if you haven't yet started your art collection. We highly value individuals who demonstrate a genuine engagement with the art space, such as regular event attendance and other forms of involvement. We may overlook a small or non-existent collection if we sense a sincere passion or interest in starting one. Coupled with high-quality references, this can lead to a successful application even without an existing art collection.

The goal is to have 100 collectors in every city worldwide, ensuring strong engagement and ethical practices within each community. Our global chapter, however, has no limit.
