What a special encounter! Last Saturday, November 23rd, Entangled Others—the artist duo Sofia Crespo and Feileacan Kirkbride McCormick—welcomed our 100 collectors into their home, which doubles as their studio, for an unforgettable visit. From the moment we arrived, their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home. They had thoughtfully prepared a captivating presentation, walking us through their artistic journey, creative process, and the ideas that drive their work.
During the visit, they explained how they create and train their own databases to develop AI systems, which play a significant role in their art practice. They highlighted the limitations and boundaries of AI, emphasizing that these systems depend entirely on the data provided by humans. The conversation delved into the relationship between AI and imagination. Sofia explained that while humans and AI alike cannot create something entirely new without prior knowledge, both can combine existing elements in innovative ways. For her and Feileacan, AI serves as a tool to reshape and reimagine natural elements, allowing them to envision new species or forms of life—ideas that feel novel but are rooted in known concepts.
The duo also shared a comprehensive overview of their past projects, technical processes, and their current endeavors, which include a piece currently exhibited at the V&A Museum in London as part of the "12 of Them" series.
The visit left a lasting impression on the collectors. The carefully prepared presentation, the duo’s openness, and the intimate setting made the experience truly unique. Many attendees expressed their gratitude as they left, noting how meaningful it was to connect with the artists on a personal level. It was a memorable moment of shared curiosity and learning, reflecting the core mission of 100 Collectors: fostering deeper engagement between artists and collectors.
